The boys huddle meets every Wednesday night in the sanctuary, right hand side, second row. Grades: K- 6th
The Wednesday night boys ‘Huddle’ class, varies in grades. Grades Kindergarten through the 6th grades, although we cover seven different grades, we average weekly about 10 boys. Presently with such a low number in kids and a wide range of age, we try to lay a basic foundation with these boys.
During the summer months, for about 45 minutes, we stay outside and play some kind of sport. From, kick- ball or baseball, to basketball or football, through playing the sports, we try to lay a foundation of respect to their teammates and friends. WE then head inside for our bible lesson. Through learning and memorizing the Ten Commandments, we try to break it down into how it applies to their lives now; such as: How to respect their parents or guardians, or honoring God. Even though the main grade in this class is average the first grade, these kids understand the bible.
Many of the kids also just want to talk about what’s going on in their own lives. At the end of everything, we close out in prayer and give them a snack.
In the winter and fall months, in the past, we’ve taught the boys how to cook. Basic meals, like: English muffin pizzas or a semi- homemade green salad to desserts, like: cakes or cookies. Through the cooking process, we learned that many of the kids were learning through doing something else. While they would be cooking, we’d give them a lesson about sharing the Gospel.
In everything Kidz Church (Children’s Ministry) does, our main focus is to teach them the gospel and how to share their faith.
