Nineveh Outreach ministry

OUR MISSION:

Nineveh Outreach is committed to improving the lives of the working poor and homeless through networking of relationships and resources in the greater Sacramento area.

We need hundreds of plastic and paper grocery bags for use in our food distribution. Please bring your bags to the welcome center in the sanctuary lobby, or to the Food Closet.

WHAT NINEVEH MEANS:

Nineveh was a city in the Old Testament where God sent the reluctant prophet Jonah. Nineveh Outreach is named after this city because we willingly do what others don’t want to do. Nineveh Outreach provides clothing, food, and friendship to those in need. Out supplies come from the Senior Gleaners, California Food Link and Costco, as well as many giving people who are part of the Southpointe Christian Center family.

FOOD CLOSET:

The Food Closet is an on-campus food pantry where people of all backgrounds come to receive fresh /files/HeaderImages/Default1/thumbnail.aspx.jpgand frozen foods. Our pantry provides dairy products, paper and non-perishable items for our clients. The Food Closet is staffed solely with dedicated volunteer workers. It is open every Monday morning from 8:00 -10:00 am., supplying hundreds of people with groceries, helping them through tough times. The Food Closet provides 35 – 40 families with over 200 bags of groceries each week.

GARMENTS OF PRAISE:

/files/HeaderImages/Default1/clothing.jpgThe Garments of Praise clothing ministry has served hundreds of families over the past several years by providing clothing, shoes, coats, blankets and other necessary items. Dedicated workers receive donated items from caring people throughout the week, and prepare them for distribution. Many of items received come from the caring people of Southpointe Christian Center, as well as neighbors, co-workers and family members.

LOGISTICS:

Logistics, though hidden from the public eye, is a very important part of Nineveh Outreach. Without it, no one would receive groceries or clothing. Our volunteers meet early Monday morning to travel to the various agencies that provide our food, and bring it to our facility for bagging and distribution.
